U-Pack Cost in 2026: Real Pricing for ReloCubes and Trailer Space

U-Pack costs $1,800 to $4,500 for a typical cross-country move. ReloCubes from $1,200 for studio loads. Here is how the pricing works and what you actually pay.

Quick Answer

U-Pack charges $200-$250 per linear foot of trailer space used, or $1,200-$2,000 per ReloCube for smaller loads. A 1BR apartment typically uses 5-7 linear feet ($1,000-$1,750). A 2BR uses 8-12 linear feet ($1,600-$3,000). A full 3BR may need 16+ feet or a dedicated trailer at $3,000-$5,500. These are transport-only prices; add $300-$600 for day-labor loading/unloading if needed.

How U-Pack Pricing Works

Trailer Option (28ft)

U-Pack delivers a 28-foot semi-trailer to your address. You load one end and install a metal bulkhead divider. ABF freight fills the remaining space with commercial cargo. You pay only for the linear feet you used.

Typical rate

$200 - $250/linear foot

Varies by route and season

ReloCube Option

ReloCubes are individual storage containers delivered to your address. Each cube is approximately 6x7x8ft and holds about 1,000-1,200 lbs. You pack each cube and U-Pack transports them. No commercial freight shares your container.

Typical rate per cube

$1,200 - $2,000

Per cube, cross-country

U-Pack Wins When

  • Move is 500+ miles and you do not need storage
  • Partial load (1BR or 2BR) where trailer-share lowers your cost
  • Budget is the primary concern over delivery window flexibility
  • You can load and unload within the 3-day window

U-Pack Loses When

  • You need storage at origin or destination (PODS has this)
  • Your move-out and move-in dates do not align
  • Delivery window flexibility is critical (PODS is more flexible)
  • You are moving locally under 150 miles (U-Pack does not serve this)
Is U-Pack cheaper than U-Haul?+
At distances of 1,500+ miles, U-Pack is often cheaper all-in than U-Haul when you add U-Haul's fuel ($1,050 for a 26ft truck at 2,000 miles), 2-3 hotel nights ($250-$450), and meals ($200-$400). Total U-Haul all-in: $3,500-$4,700 for a 2BR. U-Pack for the same move: $2,400-$3,500. The gap narrows at 1,000 miles and under.
Can I track my U-Pack trailer?+
U-Pack provides basic shipment tracking via their website with estimated delivery windows. Tracking is less precise than PODS (which tracks individual containers more granularly). U-Pack sends transit updates by email and has a customer service line for status checks.
What if my move dates change?+
U-Pack charges a daily storage fee if your trailer stays beyond the 3-day loading window, typically $25-$50/day at their terminal. Changes to pickup or delivery dates require at least 48 hours notice and are subject to availability. Flexibility is less than PODS, which charges monthly storage rates with more generous windows.
